Newport Beach and Balboa Island, California

Hello Fairies! I’m really busy with photo editing these days. Since I started working in a new company straight after my last vacation to the US East Coast, I haven’t found the time to review all the 3,000 photos I brought home. But I can’t wait to share all my experiences I had in Boston, New York and Miami with you, so I’m working on it. Until this is ready, I’m excited to have a new SoCal-Post for you!
It was last year, when my friend and I went to Newport Beach in California to enjoy the sweet weather and Balboa Island. This island is a part of Newport Beach and located in the Newport Bay. You can drive to the island by ferry or by car. If you want to drive by car, you have to take the Marine Ave, but we parked our car at Balboa Peninsula and took the ferry. I definitely recommend a ride on the ferry. It offers some good views around the bay.

Balboa Island is good for whale watching, parasailing or doing some watersports. The beach is one of the best ones in California, you can have breakfast at the Cafe on the pier, take a walk on the beach, rent a bike or go swimming. There are some nice spots to see sights like beautiful houses, boats and the well-known Balboa Fun Zone which includes a Ferris wheel and arcade games. Unfortunately the ferris wheel was closed and for the two of us, the Balboa experience was more about the beach, exploring the area and taking photos. We met an estate agent and liked the idea of renting a house on the beach. But the guy told us the costs and we immediately dropped the idea. For now. Maybe some other day. But that didn’t kill the fun we had in Newport Beach!

  2. Beautiful photos of Balboa Island! Even though the bay looks peaceful, I might opt to drive since I tend to get motion sickness really bad. I wish I were near SoCal so I could hop in my car and visit right now!
