Hello Fairies <3 I am so exited to share this post with you. The photos are three years old, but the memories are still young and alive in my mind. It was in March 2013 when I went with two of my friends to Buenos Aires in Argentina. La Boca is a part of the city and along with Palermo, Recoleta and San Telmo one of the most popular parts of the Argentinian capital.
The old harbor quarter is the birth place of tango. And today tango is the main tourist attraction and the reason why every traveler comes to La Boca. There are tango dancers in front of every restaurant. The whole scenery is very nice and impressive. All the houses are colorful, accordion players make music and children play soccer in the streets. But the truth is that La Boca is one of to the poor parts of the city. Everyone tells you that you should avoid being there after dark and that you should be aware of pickpockets.
Our experience was quite relaxed. Since taxis in Buenos Aires are not expensive, we went from our apartment in Palermo to La Boca by taxi. We left the car at the beginning of the area (when the first colorful houses appeared) and walked around the cobblestone streets. This area of colorful artists’ street is called Caminito which is close to the river Riachuelo. La Boca means “mouth” in spanish and it got its name because it is located at the “mouth” of this river at the south side of Buenos Aires. Our taxi driver told us that the colorful houses were built with ship building materials like sheet metal, iron and planks. The artist Benito Quinquela Martín painted the houses in the early Sixties and the area became the home and place of work for many artists.
We enjoyed our walk through the streets, had lunch at a restaurant where a tango couple were dancing at the same time and strolled through shops full of paintings of Carlos Gardel who is very prominent in the history of tango.

The atmosphere looks unique…Now I know where to head for the authentic tango vibes <3I´m obsessed with tango: even made my man to dance it as our wedding dance! We were taking classes for a couple of months and I´ve chosen my favorite "Por una Cabeza" by Carlos Gardel. Thanks for sharing the story and pics! Loved it #FlyAwayFriday
Hi Anna! Wow, this is awesome. Thanks for sharing your story! Unfortunately, I’m not very good in Tango, even if I had the opportunity to attend a tango class in Buenos Aires 😉 It was too short! But I learned so much about the culture and Carlos Gardel. That was really cool! xoxo Claudi #FlyAwayFriday
Ahhhh Argentina! I’ve always wanted to visit since one of my suitemates from college was half Argentinian and heard amazing things. The photos are so colorful, I’m in love! Thank you so much for joining #FlyAwayFriday, see you in 2 weeks!

Love all the bright colors! I feel like South America is so full of life and I’m dying to go! Thank you for sharing on FlyAwayFriday and can’t wait to see what you share next!
Thank you, Chloe! You are right with the bright colors. But I only went to some parts of Chile and Buenos Aires and I can’t wait to discover more of South America. I would like to go to Patagonia as well and of course to Brazil. Haha, there is so much to do / so much to travel 😉 Love, Claudi #FlyAwayFriday
